Patricia Harris, M.A., ABD

Patricia Harris is the Owner and Principal Consultant for IKnowHigherEdu, LLC; an educational consulting company that specializes helping students and families navigate through the college admission process. IKnowHigherEdu offers a range of services from test preparation and college selection, to essay and interview coaching, admissions webinars, and application packaging for prospective undergraduate and graduate students.

Beginning her professional career in higher education in 2002, Harris formed an interest in college admissions and recruitment, and has since translated this interest into a successful career as a higher education professional. Realizing her passion, Patricia has operated in various leadership roles at highly selective public and private institutions in New York, Georgia, North Carolina and Palestine (Jerusalem). Throughout her career, she has been committed to equity, college access, and improving outcomes for students of color. She has a track record of effectively closing achievement and attainment gaps for minority students both nationally and globally. In 2010, Patricia was awarded the “Forty under 40 Shaker Award” by the Greater Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., for her commitment to civic engagement and embodying the spirit of progressiveness in her profession. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and devotes much of her free time giving back to others.

Patricia currently serves as the first Director of Recruitment in the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In this position, she provides oversight for student recruitment initiatives and establishes collaborative strategies and programs designed to expand the pipeline of diverse candidates. Patricia has proven to be a key player in advancing and propelling the School of Education forward.

Patricia earned bachelor’s degree in sociology from Savannah State University and obtained a master’s degree in counseling from Argosy University. She is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in higher education management from the University of Georgia, where she studied comparative higher education in both Europe and China. In addition to her leadership and work in post-secondary education, Patricia serves on NAAAHR’s National Board as the SVP of the Collegiate Network.
